labor day sales, extra 30-40% off roundup
double dipping on the discounts
an extra 30% is a great benchmark for a decent sale. when added onto an item that’s already 50 - 60% off, you’re looking at an overall discount of 65 - 72% off the total price. this makes cheaper items a steal pickup, and higher ticket items more of a reasonable purchase
if an item is originally $800 and then gets hit with 50% off + an extra 30% off, what’s the point of pricing it at $800 in the first place? or more importantly, who’s paying $800 and who’s paying $280? how much did it originally cost to make and how much is a retailer making off the final sale price? what is the true value of softgoods in our wardrobe/society??
regardless of any existential crises this may cause, these three retailers are putting on that extra 30-40% off to trigger a little bit of retail-induced dread in you this week
cncpts is a streetwear retailer based in boston that is mostly known for their sneaker collaborations
while their recent collaborations have grown a bit stale, their sale selection spans a diversity of products, from skate & streetwear to products from higher end labels
cncpts sale (code BL24 for extra 30% off)
on the other side of the country, likelihood is a seattle retailer with an archive sale going on in-store. they have put on a wave of additional discounts in-store and are graciously providing an online discount as well for those with massive sale fomo
their selection is similar to cncpts with just a slight skew towards more modern & japanese brands, so it may be a good excuse to go in on that explore page piece with 70% less risk
likelihood sale (code XTRA-30 for extra 30% off)
expires tomorrow night
the darkside initiative is an edgy, techwear-focused retailer that serves the san francisco bay area with products from brands like stone island, nanamica and acronym
although their initial discounts aren’t that high with around 20-40% off retail prices, the extra 40% off definitely makes a lot of these items highly considerable
the urban ninja aesthetic just became a little bit more accessible this week
darkside initiative sale (code LABOR24 for extra 40% off)
expires 9/2
personally, i think these sales are fairly good since these retailers are ante-ing up the extra discount, and there’s enough selection between the three of these retailers to outfit an entire fashion subreddit
but remember, as a consumer, you have the power to pick between multiple retailers / items and you are the one who decides what’s valuable—at least until your size sells out
